Graduation season has arrived, and Wayland families are marking milestones from elementary school through college. Students are closing one chapter and stepping into the next, carrying the work and resilience that got them here.
Last year’s messages were heartfelt, proud and often playful. This year, parents are encouraged to keep it personal. Some may write a simple note of pride, while others highlight perseverance and growth. The strongest messages do both, recognizing achievement and character.
Humor is welcome. Light lines about early mornings or the scramble to get out the door can add authenticity. Messages can also look ahead: encouraging curiosity for younger students, independence for high school seniors, and purpose for college graduates.
What stands out most is specificity. A shared memory, a challenge overcome, or a small victory can turn a general message into something meaningful. A few honest sentences, clearly written, will resonate most.
The Wayland Post will publish submissions again this year, celebrating both graduates and the community supporting them. Free messages are limited to 15 words. Notes up to 50 words may be submitted with a $25 donation.
