Kathleen Margaret “Kay” (Shaughnessy) Hand, of Wayland, died peacefully surrounded by her family at her residence on May 11, 2026.
Kay was the daughter of Joseph Shaughnessy and Mary (Callaghan) Shaughnessy.
Beloved wife for 65 years of the late Paul E. “Mickey” Hand. Devoted mother of Daniel J. Hand; Colleen M. Meiners; Kerry A. Lewis and her partner Brian Ewing; Erin M. Cole and her husband Christophe; and the late Cheryl K. Chagnon. Cherished grandmother of Sean Hand, Bryce Franich, Aidan Meiners, Chad Lewis, Gavin Lewis, Traci Cole, Timothy Cole, Joseph Chagnon, Nathan Chagnon, and the late Tara Chagnon. Loving great-grandmother of Theodore Meiners, Micky Franich, Killian Lewis, Reilly Lewis, Scarlet Lewis, Addison Lewis, Jaxon Cole, Colton Dunn, and Lucy Chagnon. Sister of Elizabeth Le-Blanc of Waltham, and the late Mary Rogers and John Shaughnessy.
Kay had a long career with the New England Telephone Co. as a receptionist beginning in Boston and then transferring to Wellesley. For many years, she was a hostess of the Village Smoke House in Wayland.
She loved to travel and has been all over the world, enjoyed cruises and being at the beach on the Cape. She was an avid Boston sports fan, especially enjoying the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
