Kudos to the Wayland Post staff

There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude to Dave Watkins and Brad Spiegel, Carole Plumb, and June Valliere, and to all who work with them, for our town’s newspaper, The Wayland Post, which is delivered to us free of charge every two weeks.

A little more than a year ago, it was just an idea, and now look at what we hold in our hands: news reports covering the workings of our local government, updates on town issues and projects, write-ups on our schools and sports events, information related to our community’s cultural, historical and business events, letters and photos and obituaries, and so much more. I have read nearly every word of this first year’s publications in utter amazement! I can only imagine the knowledge, commitment, competence, and effort; the business acumen, journalistic experience, writing skills; and the dedication to a principle that must be required to produce a newspaper such as ours.

The loss of newspapers around our country is terribly disheartening. A trustworthy source of news and information is vital to our safety and wellbeing as citizens in a democracy, and we are privileged to be a small town that has a newspaper! As a citizenry, we are more enlightened, and as a town, more vibrant, with such a professionally produced paper. Let us show that we value and appreciate this wonderful resource in our community, and support our Wayland Post generously. It will take all of us.
