Sports roundup: summer youth programs come to the fore

Wayland’s summer sports calendar shifted from high school competition to youth programs, with Wayland High School tournament action completed.

Little League

Wayland Little League reported that spring registration is closed and directed families looking for summer registration to sign up through its website. The organization provides baseball and softball programs for players from pre-K through high school-age divisions, with programs typically offered in the spring, summer and fall. The league also highlighted its new filterable scheduling view for 2026 teams, divisions and field locations.

Soccer

Wayland Youth Soccer announced that registration is open for the fall 2026 season for players in K-8. The organization continued to promote its referee program, including certification opportunities for those interested in officiating. WAYS also recognized its seventh- and eighth-grade boys Strikers team, which was headed to the MTOC Tournament.

Basketball

Wayland Youth Basketball Association said registration for the 2025-26 season is scheduled to open Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. The association offers programs for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade, including travel basketball, in-town basketball and a K-2 Winter Academy. WYBA describes its goals as building basketball skills, sportsmanship, resilience, self-esteem and a team-first culture.

Lacrosse

Wayland Youth Lacrosse’s spring 2026 season runs from March through June, with boys’ and girls’ programs for kindergarten through eighth grade. The organization said boys’ schedules would be posted in March 2026 and directed families to the Demosphere app for the most detailed boys’ practice and game schedule information. Girls’ schedules are available through the FGLL calendar.
