Nearly 80 residents and one loyal dog fanned out across the intersection of Routes 20, 126, and 27 late Sunday afternoon, joining a nationwide day of action honoring the late U.S. Rep. John Lewis and generations of activists who fought for voting and civil rights. The gathering was one of more than 1,600 events held nationwide, according to organizers. Participants in Wayland waved signs, cheered and exchanged fist‑bumps with motorists who punctuated the rally with supportive blasts of their horns in the steamy summer heat.
