Splash & Dash
Wayland Community Pool

The Splash & Dash is a community race that is being held rain or shine as part of Wayland’s Rev250 Celebration, marking the 250th birthday of the United States. The event begins at the Wayland Community Pool for the “splash” and continues on the grounds of Wayland High School for the “dash.” There is a Kids Race (12 & under – 100-yard swim and ½-mile run) and a Teen/Adult Race (13 & over — a 250-yard swim and 2-mile run. A Classical Chinese Dance Showcase! Have you ever wondered what it would look like if a Chinese painting of ancient times came to life? Here’s a chance to catch a glimpse. Please join us at this experience of Chinese classical dance, performed by adult students and China-trained professionals. From the wonder of first encounters, to dances that evoke mountains and rivers; from embodying entire worlds within oneself, to dreams descending into the human realm. Every performance carries the expression of adult dancers’ love for life, passion, and dreams. $15-60.

Jane Mecom: Widow to Witness to Revolution

Learn about the American Revolution through the life of someone who was living on the fringes of society, struggling to make ends meet. Jane Mecom was born in Boston in 1712 and experienced the changing political climate while enduring turmoil in her personal life, including, living in poverty, her husband’s death, and the loss of her children. Through surviving letters, we know that she experienced these trials in tandem.

First Parish in Wayland Yard Sale

A fun and kid-friendly yard sale. The sale will feature antiques, jewelry, accessories, books, puzzles, decor, and a bit of furniture. Please plan to pay with cash. Kindly bring your own bags. Twenty percent of sale proceeds will be divided evenly between two local food banks: A Place to Turn and Open Table. Parking in the First Parish lot is limited. Please park at the Trinitarian Congregational Church or the Town Building across the street.

Weaving the Wrack Line

Join fiber artist and ocean activist Rebecca McGee for an interactive weaving workshop that transforms marine debris and reclaimed materials into meaningful works of art. As part of Arts Wayland’s Eco Month, participants will learn simple weaving techniques on frame looms, experiment with alternative materials, and create a small weaving that reflects both personal creativity and environmental stewardship.
