Arts Wayland and the Wayland Museum & Historical Society invite artists to submit work for their upcoming juried exhibition, Echoes of Liberty, presented in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. This special Call for Art encourages artists to explore the relationship between history and contemporary creativity by responding to selected historical artifacts and the enduring themes of liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness.
The exhibit is open to artists working in 2D, 3D, photography, and digital media. Artists may submit up to five original works inspired by artifacts from the museum’s collection. Deadline for EMASS Senior Softball Registration
Wayland, Medfield, Ashland, and Framingham
The Eastern Massachusetts Senior Softball League(EMASS) has opened its annual registration campaign for men and women softball players aged 50 and older. With approximately 500 members, the league attracts players from towns across eastern Massachusetts, with games played primarily in Wayland, Medfield, Ashland, and Framingham. The season runs from late April through early October, including playoffs. Interested players can register at e-mass.org/current-programs.
EMASS has six divisions that accommodate a range of skill levels. Two play doubleheaders on Saturday mornings, and four play on weekday mornings. EMASS has many seniors in their fifties and sixties who can still hit a ball over a 300-foot fence, run down a deep drive in the outfield, or turn a double play in the infield. Other divisions allow players whose talents may have diminished over time to enjoy playing with similarly skilled friends.

The Upcycling Unit Art Workshop for Students

Join Shining Xu and Aaliyah Kachroo of Wayland Middle School for a creative workshop launching their 8th Grade Civics project on recycling awareness and litter reduction. Sunday Slice & Bingo Social
Community Center/Council on Aging (8 Andrew Ave). An easy, low-stress Sunday gathering that blends food, fun, and community into one relaxed afternoon. Hosted by Wayland Post, the event invites families, kids, and older adults alike to come together for a casual, social experience built around shared tables, simple entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere.
Pizza, popcorn, drinks, and a mix of beer and wine are available, creating a laid-back “Sunday reset” where people can unwind, connect, and spend time with friends or meet new ones.
Bingo provides the anchor activity — easy to jump into and familiar to all ages — but the real focus is on the shared experience around the tables, with a light competitive element and prizes that keeps the energy up without making it intense.
