ZBA seeks two associate members
Have a hand in shaping the character of your community without a full-time commitment. The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is seeking two associate members to step in as needed, helping guide decisions that influence how our town grows, evolves, and retains its unique charm.
Associate members take part in public hearings, share perspectives on zoning matters, and vote when needed to form a quorum. Appointed by the Select Board for three-year terms, they play a key role in balancing thoughtful development with preserving the qualities that make our town such a special place to live.

A fun summer project: paint a fire hydrant
Put your creativity to work and make some public art on a Wayland fire hydrant. Individuals, families, groups, and organizations can register to paint a fire hydrant (or more than one) to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Paint kits are available, or use your own.
Guidelines specify the type of paint (oil-based enamel paint for metal), and how to ensure that your artwork doesn’t interfere with the hydrant’s function. Some colors are prohibited, all black, all white, or dark camouflage green, for example, and no words or logos are allowed. To register, select hydrant(s) that are not already painted and e-mail Select Board member Tom Fay at tfay@wayland.ma.us. He will send you the guidelines and the agreement for hydrant sponsors to sign.
195 Main St. meeting
195 Main St. is presently the vacant site of the former DPW garage, which has been undergoing testing by CMG Environmental Inc. due to site contamination. A Public Involvement Plan (PIP) Public Meeting will be held virtually Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. Discussion topics include but are not limited to the following:
Additional monitoring well installation
Seasonal changes in groundwater flow
Recent results of PFAS testing
Expanded “site” size
Likely sources of PFAS contamination
Scope of work for Phase II Comprehensive Assessment
Next DEP submissions
