A driver on Route 27 crashed into a utility pole early on June 20, causing a lengthy power outage for many.
Wayland Acting Police Chief Mark Hebert said that when an officer arrived around 4:30 a.m., he met with the driver at Windy Hill and Cochituate Road. There was a downed utility pole and the vehicle was approximately 15 yards away in the woods, he said.
A passenger and the driver, who was cited for motor vehicle offenses including speeding and marked lanes violation, sustained minor injuries. Neither were taken to the hospital. The area was closed for about 16 hours as crews worked to remove the pole and downed wires, as well as the vehicle.
