Wayland resident brings the Post to Egypt

Lisa Lieu in Egypt with her copy of the Wayland Post.

Lisa Liu visited Abu Simbel in Egypt this month with the Wayland Post. She said Abu Simbel is the site of the famous Ramses Temple that was cut out of the mountain and moved 200 feet higher to protect it from the rising waters of the new dam. According to Lieu, they cut a mountain into 1000 pieces and moved it block by block in the 1960s. She said it is a famous rescue project organized by UNESCO in which 50 countries participated. It took workers four years working twenty-four-seven to do it.

In addition to bringing the Wayland Post newspaper with you while travelling, you can also access a digital copy of the Wayland Post while you are away at www.waylandpost.org.
